Advice on Non-toxic and Edible Glitters
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) advises that only non-toxic and inedible glitters that have been tested and meet the requirements of legislation for food contact materials can be applied to food for decoration, but not for consumption. They should be labelled ‘for food contact’ or carry alternative wording to show how they should be used. If you’re unsure whether a non-toxic glitter has been approved for contact with food, please contact the supplier.
As a general rule:
For this reason Squires Kitchen only uses ingredients and additives which meet the requirements and are approved for food use by the EU and does not recommend using any products which do not contain permitted additives or ingredients. Approved products include all SK food dusts, lustres, sparkles and other colours which are sold in the SK shop in Farnham and online at squires-shop.com.
We sell a wide range of edible colourings and therefore appreciate the importance of variation in colour. We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colours of our products that appear on the website. However, as the colours you see will depend on various factors such as lighting, monitor display make and type, monitor display settings etc., we cannot guarantee that the appearance of illustrated colours will accurately reflect the colours of products supplied.
